CONCRETE PANEL STRUCTURE.
The panel enclosure system consists of 6" thick insulated concrete
panels attached to the
building frame.
ADVANTAGES. Rapid job site
erection and enclosure, modular units, less weight when compared
with solid stone and brick construction, relatively maintenance free
exterior and good thermal resistance.
DISADVANTAGES. Requires greater
lead time and co-ordination both on site and in design, may be
subject to staining due to industrial atmosphere or improper water
run off design, increased interior maintenance costs when compared
with glazed tile and
increased exterior maintenance due joint up-keep.
CONCLUSIONS. This enclosure
system provides a long term installation but with increased
maintenance costs. The net cost result places this system between
solid masonry and pre-engineered. construction. As such this system
presents a viable alternative where first costs, aesthetics and
life cycle costs are involved. |
